Column headers differ in IE6 and IE8

I have an example how cognos report studio column (or row) headers appear in different versions of Internet Explorer and one way to make them look the same.

In these crosstab column headers text is in the multiple lines and background colour is purple. Looking the report in IE8 headers look fine but in IE6 top is gray [pic.1].

Class the headers use is Crosstab member cell and it has a some kind of gray gradient, light and shadows that make the headers look little buffy/3D. This is a background image.

If you look at the crosstab column properties [pic. 2] [1] there's nothing. Change the background image properties [2] from default to none. Even the default has got that gray gradient it's not shown in the preview pane here. After changing it to none, "(Defined)" text is shown [3].

After this change the column headers have a plain colour and the report looks same in both IE versions.

Last picture [pic. 3] shows example how background image "none" and "default" shows in the row/column headers in IE8. Firts column has none and second column has default.
